GPHA, Navy Reinforce Strategic Alliance for Port and Maritime Security

The Director General of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), Brigadier General Paul Seidu Tanye-Kulono on Friday 11th July, 2025 received the new Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) of the Eastern Naval Command, Commodore Solomon Asiedu-Larbi.

The visit, which took place at the GPHA Headquarters, forms part of Commodore Asiedu-Larbi’s stakeholder engagement efforts following his appointment in May this year.

The two discussed areas of improved maritime security, particularly in the wake of the commencement of 24 hour operations at the port. 

The meeting also discussed strengthening collaboration between the Ghana Navy and GPHA, particularly in the areas of port safety and joint operations to safeguard Ghana’s territorial waters.

Commodore Asiedu-Larbi expressed his appreciation for the critical role GPHA plays in national development and assured the Director General of the Navy’s commitment to deepening cooperation for the mutual benefit of both institutions.

He commended GPHA for the support it continuous to offer to the Ghana navy which has ensured a lasting relationship between the Port Authority and the Ghana Navy.

The Director General of GPHA congratulated the Commodore on his new role and reaffirmed the Authority’s willingness to collaborate closely with the Eastern Naval Command to ensure the safety and efficiency of port operations.
