WOMEN NETWORK OF PMAWCA RECOMMEND CAPACITY BUILDING FOR WOMEN

The Women Network of the Port Management Association of West and Central Africa is recommending capacity building for women in the maritime industry.
The President of the Women Network of PMAWCA, Florentine Guihard-Koidio said women in the maritime industry need to be given the necessary support in order for them to grow in their organisations.

Esther Gyebi-Donkor, General Manager, Marketing and Corporate Affairs of GPHA who is the immediate President of the Women network of PMAWCA said a lot of trainings are being organised to improve the capacity of women in order for them to contribute their quota to the development of the maritime industry.

"We have also encouraged the senior members of the network to mentor the young ones. To be competitive and up to task for the industry, so that when there is vacancy, no one would deny you," she advised.

She said mentorship programmes are also being organised to improve the capacity of women and make them competitive in their various roles.
"You need to educate yourself to be exposed to the dynamics of the industry to be able to function efficiently. And above all, we need to make sure to give off our best to justify the opportunities that will be assigned to us," she added.
Esther Gyebi-Donkor urged women in the maritime industry to continue to educate themselves to increase their knowledge base in their various organisations.
