GOLDEN JUBILEE TERMINAL (GJT) was commissioned on the 29th of March 2007 by his Excellency President John Agyekum Kuffour. The construction of this terminal was necessitated by the increasingly large volumes of containerized cargoes being received in the port. These cargoes which involved stuffing and unstuffing of containers and others such as parking of imported vehicles in the port, operation of a container freight station, impeded the efficient delivery of containers/cargoes to customers leading to congestion in the port.


	To overcome the space constraint imposed by the activities described above in the port, Golden Jubilee Terminal an off-dock container devanning terminal was constructed to enable the port to cope with the continuing increase in the volume of containers and containerized traffic. LOCATION>> GJT is located 300m from the western gate of the Tema main harbour and it is accessible by road on all sides.

TERMINAL PERFORMANCE >>

80% of the total volume of container transfers comes from the main container terminal in the port - Meridian Port Services (MPS) Terminal. The Total Container throughput within six (6) months of operation i.e from 29th march 2007 is 4000 TEUS. Currently GJT transfers between 450 and 500 TEUS a week from the port to the terminal. When the terminal is fully operational the volume is expected to increase to between 1500 and 2000 TEUS a week.

Currently GJT Terminal also delivers between 1500 and 2000 vehicles a month
