Our Vision
Our vision is to be the preferred fishing port in the West African Sub-region. Consequently,   target includes being a major fish market for fishing vessels within the  sub-region and attracting meduim to large large scale fishing and  fish product companies to the port .

Our Mission
To provide appropriate and efficient infrastructure and technology and ensure a hygienic environment for the safe, fast and efficient handling of vessels and processing of fish catches.
To  maintain a well-trained and motivated personnel to render the most cost effective services to our customers  thereby generating enough revenue to sustain the services while contributing to the growth of the fishing industry.

INFRASTRUCTURE
The Fishing Harbour comprises the Inner Fishing Harbour, the Canoe Basin, and the Outer Fishing Harbour. Details indicated below:

Inner Fishing Harbour:

  • Mooring facility of total quay length of 467metres ( caters for 8 vessels of 54metres lenght overall)
  • Finger Jetty approximately 60metres long
  • Lay-by jetty of 155 metres 
  • Net-mending/Lay by wharf of 100 metres
  • Protective water area of approx. 10.0 hectares
  • Depth ranges between 3.5- 4.0 metres (Chart Datum)
  • Entrance is 63 metres wide

Outer Fishing Harbour:

  • Total Quay length of 486 metres 
  • Capacity to accommodate Tuna vessels and Deep Sea Fish carriers.
  • Depth ranges of 5.0 - 7.0 metres (Chart Datum)
  • Lay-by mooring wharf opposite the main quay
  • Protective water area of approx. 12.5 hectares
  • Entrance is 122 metres wide


Canoe Basin

This caters for the artisanal fishermen and is under the control of the Chief Fisherman and traditionally managed under customary practice. The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority assists with security and sanitation. The basin is normally occupied by about 400 canoes. However,during the peak season, that is from July-October this number swells to about 500 when other canoes from fishing communities scattered along the coast land their catches there.
The basin also has the following facilities-
Wooden jetty for motorboats
Fish handling shed
Protective water area of approx. 5.2 hectares.
A 120- room gear storage facility
Toilets and Bathhouses
